Post-deadline; pinch hits 8, 13-16

The deadline has passed! Thanks to everyone who turned in work or contacted me about an extension. Good luck to everyone still working! Treats are very welcome in this exchange.

There are 5 pinch hits outstanding. Please either reply (comments are screened) or email morbane@gmail.com, with your AO3 name, if you can pick up one of these pinch hits. These assignments can be fulfilled with a 1,000+ word story or a nice sketch that is not on lined paper, featuring either a crossover or a fusion of two of the fandoms in one of the person's requests, avoiding their DNWs.

Pinch hits 8, 13, 14, 15, and 16 are due on Wednesday 25 August, 11:59pm EDT. That's less than two days before the collection goes live at 5pm on Friday 27th.

XCOM (2012 Reboot), The Authority, Biohazard | Resident Evil (Gameverse)
Fic/Crossover

I would love a fic where the Authority exists in the XCOM or RE universe. Maybe it's been there all along, or the Carrier happens to pop out of the Bleed into one of those universes? How does the presence of the Authority change things?

For RE/XCOM, maybe XCOM is another organisation fighting against BOWs? Or maybe there's a double threat of aliens and BOWs. Or aliens created the BOWs! Or the characters from one universe somehow end up in the other.

Characters I like, if you want to include them:
The Authority - Apollo, Midnighter, Jenny Sparks, Jenny Quantum (feel free to mess around with dates for the Jennys or just handwave/ignore that entirely because alternate universe)
Resident Evil - Leon, Chris, Claire, Sherry, Ethan
XCOM - Bradford, Lily, Jane Kelly, Terminal, Verge, Cherub, Patchwork

For ships I like Apollo/Midnighter and Leon/Chris, and also Male Commander/Bradford from XCOM 2 onwards.

General Likes:
- Established relationships
- Outsider POV
- Romantic relationships that are based on strong friendships
- Strong friendships in general, found family, team dynamics
- Non-sexual physical affection (hugs, hand holding, etc)
- Hurt/comfort, injury recovery, permanent injury
- Plot/worldbuilding-heavy stories
- Highly competent characters who are extremely good at what they do
- Complete disaster characters who constantly screw up but somehow still manage to succeed
- The grumpy one being soft for the sunshine one

DNW:
- First person POV
- Soulmates of any kind, including platonic
- Permanent death of requested characters
- Unhappy/hopeless endings
- Genderbends
- Character bashing
- Infidelity
- Explicit sex

Psych (TV 2006), Elementary (TV), Leverage, Hannibal (TV), Prodigal Son (TV 2019)
Fic/Crossover

There's plenty of casefic potential to delve into between any of these fandoms. I would love it if one team was committing crimes and the other team was trying to stop them, but I'm open to them working together to solve/commit a crime. If you want to cross over three or more fandoms, that would be absolute chaos and I would love it.

Tone-wise I'd prefer something lighthearted, especially if Leverage or Psych is involved, but you have my blessing to do something really dark and fucked up with a Hannibal/Prodigal Son crossover. It's just absolutely ripe for some gaslighting and medical malpractice :)

Feel free to use episodes from the shows if you don't want to come up with your own case!

For ships I like Will/Hannibal and Eliot/Parker/Hardison. Canon pairings or gen are also fine.

Howl Series - Diana Wynne Jones, Torchwood
Fic/Crossover

I think the combination of Howl and Torchwood would lead to some spectacular shenanigans. Maybe the Torchwood Wales is the one Howl comes from and he gets caught up in one of their investigations, or his many trips between Wales and Ingary draws their attention and he becomes the subject of one, or the rift sends the Torchwood team to Ingary.

Gen or any canon pairing(s) would be fine.

I've also read Castle in the Air and House of Many Ways if you want to use any of the characters or plotlines from there, and if you want to go with Torchwood One instead of Three I've listened to all the audio dramas.

Batman - Gen preferred; I love the entire batfam but Dick, Jason, and Cassandra in particular
Mass Effect - MShep/Kaidan; Garrus, Tali, Legion, Wrex, and Grunt

BioShock Infinite, Dishonored (Video Games)
Fic/Crossover

These two universes are just crying out to be crossed over! Maybe one of the tears Elizabeth and Booker go through takes them to the Dishonored universe, or Corvo and/or Emily go through a tear that opens up in their world and end up in the Bioshock universe (or via one of the Outsider's powers gone wrong).

A partner swap would be great too! Corvo & Elizabeth and Booker & Emily pair up for a mission in one universe, or they're in different universes trying to get home.

Or even something really low key like Corvo and Booker talking in a pub in some liminal space.

Gen is fine but I'd also be open to Elizabeth/Emily and/or Corvo/Booker. For Elizabeth/Emily I'd prefer if they were both adults.

Mute!Corvo is great if you want to do that.

Arrow (TV 2012), Batman (1966)
Fic/Crossover

Oliver's lame excuses to Felicity in Arrow season 1 really reminded me of 60s Bruce doing the same to Gordon and Aunt Harriet. I'd love it if Bruce and Oliver met as civilians unaware of the other's vigilante identity, gradually growing suspicious of each other as they give increasingly ridiculous explanations for rushing off in the middle of meetings, events, etc.

Gen preferred, but you can add whatever implied/background pairings you want.

The Magicians (TV), The Wilds (TV 2020), White Oleander - Janet Fitch, Skins (UK)
Fic/Crossover

General likes:
Childhood flashbacks and backstory; flashbacks and pre-canon backstory in general; slice of life; dreams, hallucinations, drugs and other ways to look into the characters' subconscious (I like when it gets very weird, but it also doesn't have to); dream logic; symbolism; physical manifestations of metaphorical personal monsters; magical realism; parallels; character study; a character meeting their child self; "what if" AU and other kinds of canon divergent AUs; time travel AU in the context of getting a second chance to do something from the past differently (the "Peggy Sue" trope); a character saving their younger self from trauma; crossovers; isekai; unreliable narrator; outsider POV; dorkiness; characters having fun; children doing their own thing and not being controlled; humor; pop culture references (from tv more than from movies); future/post-canon; exploring canon mental illness and the process of healing from trauma; self-(re)discovery.

Additional fandom-specific likes:
A bunch of troubled young people with mostly traumatic pasts. You can keep the crossover mundane (any combination of fandoms that doesn't include The Magicians - please don't make The Magicians mundane) or have someone be a hedge witch (Astrid Magnussen!) or go to Brakebills (Nora Reid! Grace Blood! Fatin Jadmani!). The character choices are just suggestions - I would honestly love anyone in these or other roles.
My favorite characters:
The Magicians: Quentin, Eliot, Marina, Kady, Margo, Julia, Shoshana, Sylvia, Skye, The Fairy Queen, Fray, Penny 40, Todd + pretty much everyone else
Skins: Liv, Grace, Effy, Pandora, Franky, Mini, Karen, Maude, and the canon relationship between Effy and Katie (rather than Katie as a solo character); I strongly prefer gen 2 or gen 3, but gen 1 is not a DNW if it's the only one you know or if it's your strong preference.
The Wilds: Linh, Dot, Fatin, Nora, Martha + pretty much everyone else
White Oleander: I would love the focus to be on Astrid, but any other character(s) can definitely be included too, especially Yvonne
Go where the crossover takes you and I'm going to love everything you come up with! :)
My "persecutory delusions" DNW doesn't apply to Leah because she is objectively right, even if she doesn't know it for sure from her POV.

General dislikes (DNW):
Any romance; any sex; any kink; physical illness/sickness; someone being taken care of by another person (grooming, feeding, etc.); unresolved mind control or possession; possessiveness portrayed as positive; violating consent and freedom portrayed as positive when it's "not a big deal" or "for someone's own good", also in a non-sexual context, also when it applies to children (convincing someone to do things they don't like, "playfully" tickling when someone says no, intentionally limiting someone's choices, "grounding", etc.); parents' POV on a parent-child relationship; self-sacrifice and self-denial portrayed as positive; non-canon pregnancy and childbirth; AU that completely changes characters' backstories; persecutory delusions and delusions of reference (other symptoms of mental illnesses are not just okay, but very welcome).

Additional fandom-specific dislikes (DNW):
The Magicians:
Permanent death for Quentin 40 (the DNW doesn't apply to Quentins from other timelines). It's perfectly okay with me if he just doesn't die at all, but if he does die it's really important to me that he comes back.
Eliot forgiving his father or other abusive family members.
White Oleander:
The relationship between Astrid and Ingrid portrayed as healthy, including pre-canon and post-canon.

Additional fandom-specific likes:
Humorous, serious or even angsty story would be equally welcome! With how many people die on The Magicians, this would be a really easy way to have them meet Death, but any other way you come up with is just as great. (Just remember about my DNW re: Quentin 40's death. He can still meet Death, but then he needs to come back.) Feel free to use other The Magicians timelines - the ones we know a lot about (like 23), the ones we know nothing at all about, or anything in between. Most characters die there, so it would work perfectly, for example I'd love Eliot 23 and Margo 23 to meet Death.
My favorite characters:
The Magicians: Quentin, Eliot, Marina, Kady, Margo, Julia, Shoshana, Sylvia, Skye, The Fairy Queen, Fray, Penny 40, Todd + pretty much everyone else

Discworld (Witches Series): Granny Weatherwax, Nanny Ogg, Lily Weatherwax, Esmerelda Margaret Note Spelling of Lancre + pretty much everyone else
Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers: Gadget, Tammy + pretty much everyone else
Dead Like Me: Reggie, George, Betty, Roxy + pretty much everyone else
Derry Girls: all of the Derry Girls (including James), especially Orla and Michelle
Misfits: Kelly, Nathan, Curtis (especially Curtis' power to turn back time); I strongly prefer seasons 1-3.
The Magicians: Quentin, Eliot, Marina, Kady, Margo, Julia, Shoshana, Sylvia, Skye, The Fairy Queen, Fray, Penny 40, Todd + pretty much everyone else
Go where the crossover takes you and I'm going to love everything you come up with! :)

Discworld:
The relationship between Nanny Ogg and her sons and/or her daughters-in-law.
Derry Girls:
The relationship between Joe & Gerry. Focus on any of the parents. Focus on Orla reading Erin's diary (mentions are okay).
The Magicians:
Permanent death for Quentin 40 (the DNW doesn't apply to Quentins from other timelines). It's perfectly okay with me if he just doesn't die at all, but if he does die it's really important to me that he comes back.
Eliot forgiving his father or other abusive family members.

The 100 (TV), Discworld (Death Series) - Terry Pratchett

With how many people die on The 100, this would be a really easy way to have them meet Death, but any other way you come up with is just as great. (Do AIs meet Death after they die? Would A.L.I.E.?) Something that includes the Stones or the Flame in any way would be absolutely amazing.
My favorite characters:
The 100: Becca, A.L.I.E., Madi, Callie Cadogan, Bill Cadogan (in his canon villain role - I'm not really looking for redemption for him, but I'm also not looking for a punishment after or before his canon death). This is my favorite part of the show, but if you prefer other characters / seasons / storylines you can obviously write about them - I would be especially interested in Jasper and the other people who died with him. What were any of these minor/unnamed characters' individual reasons to commit suicide?
Discworld (Death Series): I mostly have Death himself in mind here, but other characters can definitely be included too, especially Death of Rats
Go where the crossover takes you and I'm going to love everything you come up with! :)

The 100:
Any mentions of Aurora Blake. The relationship between between Clarke & Madi or between Bellamy & Octavia portrayed as healthy (not a DNW when portrayed as dysfunctional/kinda fucked up, but you can also just ignore these relationships altogether).
Discworld:
The relationship between Nanny Ogg and her sons and/or her daughters-in-law.

Lost, The Wilds (TV 2020)
Fic/Crossover, Fic/Fusion

This is a pretty obvious crossover, and I would love something that explores the similarities. Feel free to set it in The Wilds timeline, with the Lost characters surviving the Island and now being more than 10 years older, and somehow involved in The Wilds events. (Preferably not as villains, but working with the villains because they didn't know better would be okay.) Or you can make a timeline where both shows are closer in time to each other, and the characters closer in age. Either way, Fatin and Shannon would be a (platonic) match made in heaven, but obviously feel free to focus on any other characters or relationship(s) you like.
My favorite thing about Lost is the theme of getting a second chance, a "new life on this Island", and I strongly prefer seasons 1-2. The other seasons are not a DNW, of course, especially since a post-Island story is the most likely here (but a story set pre-Island would be amazing too!). I prefer any canonically dead Lost characters to be alive, but their death is not a DNW if it works better for the story.
This is the only pair of fandoms where I'm also requesting a fusion, because the idea of the island the girls are on being the Lost Island, with all the canon Lost locations, personal second chances and supernatural shenanigans, sounds amazing to me! Please no fusion the other way (where the Lost Island would be a scientific experiment) - this would be pretty close to a DNW for me.
My favorite characters:
The Wilds: Linh, Dot, Fatin, Nora, Martha, Leah, Shelby + pretty much everyone else
Lost: Shannon, Locke, Walt, Rose, Ana Lucia, Eko + literally everyone else from seasons 1-2

This grouping all, for me, fall under the idea of "transported somewhere different, with different rules than where we came from" as possible crossovers or fusions, since all of these stories involve a fair amount of the protagonist figuring out what the rules are of the place they are in, and then using that knowledge to their benefit and/or the benefit of others. (Also, I belatedly realize that a fair few of them also involve puppets, origami, or the creations of children, as well.) It's certainly up to you as to figuring out how well the adjustment goes, or who slots into what roles in a fusion setting, but I think all of these groupings work together underneath this general principle. (If you get an entirely crack-y idea about this, though, do that! Do the thing you are enthusiastic about, and it will be great.)

Did someone say "Magical Girls and Sentai?" I think they did!

More seriously, all of these properties crash together as "fighting an oppressor with either magic or technology that qualifies as magic under Clarke's Third Law" and at least a fair few of them involve people who are quite young taking up the mantle of this fight, for each of their varied reasons. While their various powers and scenarios are pretty different,, I think they can all work well in each other's spaces or fused together into a most interesting combination. (But if you come up with something that's completely crack and gives you joy to write, do that! I always enjoy works where the creator had fun writing it.)

This grouping, I think, gets categorized as "What happens when you let smart people be smart and also loosen the restrictions on them just enough to see what sort of things they can get up to in the service of something great?" Catastrophic crash-downs of plans or things going completely off the rails optional, of course, but I think there's a lot of potential in here to see what happens when characters are forced to wing it or are caught outside their own domain expertise and have to put up a convincing front.

In addition, I feel like many of the characters in these named properties have a demonstrated flexibility toward gender roles and presentations that they will absolutely exploit if it helps them succeed in their plans, so if you wanted to write something with a clear bend to it, I hope there's a good combination that you can work with.

Alternately, I think there's a lot of pure comedy that could happen just by letting the characters bounce off each other in whatever situation is needed to get them in the same space, the more improbable the better.

Tools and artifacts and objects of power, oh my. I feel like the binding thread through this particular grouping is the way that they rely on teamwork between members to achieve their goals. While each of them might be powerful individually, it's when they're all in sync that everything really works well.

There's also some things in there about how each of these settings also has a symbiosis of sorts between characters and something else, whether it's mechs, dragons, artifacts, or other things. There's probably some useful story exploration in crossover or fiction poking a those symbiotic relationships from an outside perspective or seeing how they would work in a fusion where another character has this same symbiosis but relates to it in their own way.

Here is the "things that go bump in the night, and those that work to investigate/protect them from such things" category, which runs the gamut from comedic to dramatic, with occasional forays into the tragic. Most of the properties here also have the "very smart people" attribute to them, so there's a lot of opportunity for showing off cleverness, whether or not it turns out to be hubris.

Quite a few of these properties could be pitted against each other in a battle to see who can get the upper hand, those that want to conquer the world or those who want to save it. Or, those who are tasked with investigating something that is definitely unnatural (who keeps their chocolate factory closed for so long and then only decides to open it up to a select number of children and their accompanying guardians, after all?), regardless of whether it turns out to have any sort of alien, supernatural, or otherwise unexplainable aspects to it. Or if it is perfectly explainable, but only to someone who has been in the town for long enough to understand how it operates, even if that's completely orthogonal to the rest of the world.

Crack and comedy are also entirely welcome here, so if you get a plot bunny that works, even if it destroys the otherwise-serious nature of one or both works, go for it!
